Probably the best option for housing, if you can afford it, is one of the residential group centers [tab]. Those provide overall support.

 

HEAP is a federally funded program that gives heating benefits to low-income individuals, can help pay for heat in an emergency, and offers furnace repair or replacement. Households are usually eligible when one person living there is receiving SSI. Generally HEAP begins in November, when heating is first necessary in NYC.

You can file online through this form: (NEED TO FIND THE FORM). You can also apply for HEAP benefits by mail if you are receiving SSI.
